As modern
technology and the collective store of human knowledge continue to increase, the words
'Wisdom' and 'Intelligence' need to be redefined. The
following scriptural passages give some perspective:
(My servants) are the ones who examine
all words, then follow the best. These
are the ones whom God has guided, these are the
ones who possess intelligence.'
(Quran, 39:18)
For the Lord gives wisdom; and from his
mouth comes knowledge and understanding.
(Proverbs, 2:6)
He
whose mind is untroubled by sorrows, and for pleasures he has no longings, beyond passion, and fear
and anger, he is the sage of unwavering mind.
Who everywhere is free from all ties, who
neither rejoices nor sorrows if fortune is
good or is ill, his is a serene wisdom.
(Bhagavad Gita, 2:56-7)
He bestows wisdom upon whomever He
chooses, and whoever attains wisdom, has attained a great bounty.
Only those who possess intelligence will take heed.
(Quran, 2:269)
Reverence of the Lord is the beginning
of wisdom.... (Psalms, 111:10)
